700 + Members and Cory Burk is Famous

Hope you are all doing well.
  
I would like to recap the purpose of this LinkedIn Group.

Our purpose is to form a LinkedIn group with several potential benefits:
1.) A resource for us to partner with each other - whether we have moved on to new staffing firms or other corporate entities with external recruiting needs.
2.) An outlet for us to recruit one another - a resource for any of us who has found themselves looking for a new opportunity or new employee.
3.) A resource to reconnect with long lost co-workers


The blog belongs to all of us. The only stipulation, as I have also written before, is that we keep the content clean. This is not a venue to discredit, slander, or otherwise seek to damage the Allegis Group of Companies. We all had different experiences there. In looking at where people have gone since, I can discern that many of us learned a great amount from the opportunity. We are at different junctions in our lives now, and that is where the group will provide value.

I would like to congratulate Cory Burk, Program Manager - University Relations at IGT.  Cory is EX-TEK member number 700.  Cory, here is your fifteen minutes of fame.  No doubt, with all this attention, you will update your LinkedIn profile with your soon to be added EX-TEK tattoo. We might have a conference call and make you get up on top of a desk and give us a speech..."I really want to thank my contracts manager for firing me.., so I could join EX-TEK and become somebody." 

I keep coming back to this,but do you realize that this Group was started in the last week of April?  Unbelievable. The great thing is, look at all the wannabes that have jumped aboard - there are now LinkedIn Groups popping up left and right - all with the intent of emulating the one, the only, the original EX-TEK.  I have joined a few.  Why not? They have given me more people to invite into our group.  I must be humble and admit that our logo is the coolest.  Agree?

By the end of next month, we will be sitting at close to 1000 members. But only if all of you get the word out.  No slackers allowed in the group - I expect all of you to have at least five submittals by the end of the month...or else face serious consequences...like...I don't know...maybe I will spam the non-producers with one of those Nigerian Bank Account Scams...or hold your commissions until all your timecards are in...

Anyone care to share a story about how EX-TEK has re-connected you with a long lost co-worker?  Or landed you a job?  Or created an opportunity to partner on a business deal?  Have any of you Attention Deficit slackers even made it to the sixth paragraph of this post? Doubt it.

Sales Director Opening at Totalsource / ADP

ADP TotalSource is the fastest growing and most profitable division of ADP! 2. Manage and direct sales team members, and implement job responsibilities. Meet weekly with each direct report to review activity and prospective business reports, and monthly to determine if Business Plan goals are on target. Develop a regional business plan which defines how the sales team will obtain the regional sales objectives. Prepare a monthly situation report following the designated format established by Corporate Marketing. Establish a master prospect list designating all accounts that would close within 120 days.

3. Spend at least 60% of time on field calls to evaluate sales performance of assigned representative. Keep turnover of assigned sales team(s) under 10% by positive leadership skills, performance planning, coaching and counseling techniques and motivation. Continually participate in interviewing potential candidates for sales with consideration to affirmative action to establish a resource in the event of turnover. Maintain a sense of urgency, an attention to detail regarding situations that affect new sales, client retention and employee morale.

4. Works with regional operations personnel when required to ensure quality sales and retention of clients. Organize Regional client meetings.

5. Achieve net sales expense budget.

Qualifications:

Experience as a sales manager with strong leadership skills of 2+ years

·       We prefer strategic (non-commodity) sales experience in technology, outsourcing, business products, services, or Human Resource Solutions

·       Proven Proficiency in selling skills, prospecting and territory management is preferred

·       BS degree preferred

Hello EX-TEK Nation,


As of today, we have 624 members!  Wow.  Not bad considering the group was launched the last week of April.  What an exceptional group of diverse backgrounds.  Granted, over 80% of the members are in the recruiting arena, however the variety of recruiting disciplines and the level of responsibility many of you have within your organizations is something special.  

The end of summer goal is 1000 members.  The last week an average of 10 people have joined a day. If that tempo continues, we should surpass 1000 and end with 1200 members by late August. 

Much is yet to come with this blog.  Several ideas have come to mind, many which will have to be put on the back burner until mid to late fall.  Too much going on right now.  I continue to add member websites when time permits.  I apologize if I haven't been prompt enough with some of you.

For now, continue to enjoy the ability to network within the group. Thanks to EX-TEK, my company, IQ Resource Group, recently partnered with another EX-TEK firm.  They helped us place an Oracle Consultant on a contract assignment.  It was a win-win and one fine example of the potential of this group.

David Reda 1969-2005









Well. My last post included a list of people I have been trying to track down.

During a random conversation last Friday with Angelo Cueno, I asked him "You know Dave Reda?"

"He died in a car accident." Replied Angelo.

You know that person...that one person that you would consistently track down at sales meetings and hang out with. Sure, you would talk on the phone once in a while...but it just seemed more appropriate to wait until the next face to face opportunity, crack a beer and sit back and laugh at how self-important we can all act sometimes.

Dave was that guy.

The last time I saw him was at an Aerotek National Sales Meeting at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel in Nashville. I was surprised to run into him, as he had left the company to work with his Dad and brother. Things hadn't worked out as planned, so he was back...and all the better for that night...as we both had pictures of our two year olds to share. His little girl Grace...and my little boy.

I am really at a loss.

He was the consummate Californian...always in a layed back, good mood...the consumate cool guy...however he had no arrogance about him...and you should have seen his face when he pulled out the picture of that little girl...

To all you that were much closer than I to Dave, my sincere condolences.

I am sorry they are three years late.

To Steven Bisciotti...thanks for the opportunity to meet Dave.

Just a quick note. The Group was launched April 25th. We have 417 Members as of this posting.

It is nothing short of amazing to review the collective experience of all of you.

Thanks for growing the group. I have no idea what I mean by that...as the pure functionality of it may take some time to surface.
